Marc Bryant
Director of Suicide Prevention
Marc Bryant joined the LivingWorks family in 2020, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in media relations and health communications, and 13 years’ experience in the suicide prevention sector. As Director of Suicide Prevention and a qualified safeTALK and ASIST trainer, Marc leads business development and government relations in Australia working closely with our project team and clients to understand their training needs and support effective implementation and evaluation of training in their community. In addition, Marc is a Board Member for Independent Community Living Australia and sits on several suicide prevention committees to inform the ongoing development of our training programs including: IASP World Congress 2021 organising committee, Suicide Prevention Australia, RUOK “Think Tank”, Facebook Industry Group (Mental Health and Suicide Prevention), Lifeline National Suicide Site Interventions Advisory Group. Prior to joining LivingWorks, Marc was an established leader in the Australian suicide prevention sector, bringing his program design, implementation, research and communication skills to various roles including: leading the suicide prevention program at Everymind, overseeing the world-leading Mindframe program which educates journalists on safe mental health reporting, managing mental health reform communications for SA Health, primary care communications for UK National Health Service and a senior journalist in UK media. Marc’s suicide prevention work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. Marc’s passion for suicide prevention stems from his lived experience, both personally and as a carer, which taught him early on that access to a clinician at all hours isn’t possible, so upskilling friends, family, colleagues, partners and local community members is crucial in keeping people safe during their toughest moments. Outside of work, he enjoys family time and “switching off” through trail running, rock climbing and re-reading the works of Oscar Wilde. |
